2009 National Seminar
The 2009 National Student Debating Seminar was hosted by the Manitoba Speech and Debate Association in Winnipeg, Manitoba from, October 14 to October 18, 2009. The organizing committee was led by Jordan Burg and Allison Stefanyshyn of St. Mary's Academy.

Highlights
The theme for the Seminar was Funding of the Arts. Resolutions were:
- Cross-examination: BIRT public money should be used to support the arts.
- Canadian Parliamentary: This House would abolish copyright.
Delegates had a great time debating in Cross-examination, Canadian Parliamentary and British Parliamentary styles, attending workshops and lectures on the theme, and taking advantage of Winnipeg's great cultural experience. Highlights included a trip to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, a tour of the Manitoba Legislature and a drama workshop at the Manitoba Theatre for Young People.
