2010-2011 National Seminar: Hay River, Northwest Territories
Highlights
The following are highlights from the bid to host the 2010-11 National Student Debating Seminar in Hay River, Northwest Territories.
- The 2010-11 National Student Debating Seminar will be a unique northern experience. On the debating side, the Seminar will feature two rounds of debate modeled on the NWT's consensus style of government. Associated activities will include storytelling, northern music, Dene games, outdoor activities from dog-mushing to ice-fishing, and traditional Canadian winter sports.
- The Seminar is scheduled to take place in late February or early March, 2011 when Hay River is at its best ... frozen solid!
- The dress code will be warm and casual. Wear boots outside and bring your indoor shoes for inside. Outdoor clothing should be rated for at least minus-30, and everyone should bring good mitts, a warm hat that covers the ears, thermal underwear, and snow- or windpants. Newfoundlanders and Winnipeggers will have no difficulty adjusting; delegates from more temperate climes should be sure to pack extra layers.
