National Seminar FAQ
Do you have a question about the 2009 National Student Debating Seminar that is not answered below? Please help us develop our FAQ section by sending us your question.
Q: Will delegates be met at the airport?
A: Yes, and they will be looked after from that point on.
Q: How much does the government subsidize the expenses for the students?
A: The amount we are able to subsidize students (and one adult per province) depends on how much of a grant we receive from Exchanges Canada. In recent years we have reimbursed students fully for their travel to the National Seminar. If the grant we receive is less than the total cost of travel for all the delegates, we pro-rate the reimbursements. If our grant is not approved, we are unable to reimburse the delegates at all.
Q: Has Exchanges Canada approved the application for funding to reimburse travel to the 2009 National Seminar?
A: Not yet. As of October 7, 2009 we are still waiting to hear. We have been advised that our application is making its way through the system but has not yet been approved.
Q: Where will the student delegates be staying?
A: Students will be billeted with Winnipeg families.
Q: Where do I send my cheque for registration fees or CSDF membership?
A: CSDF, 22 - 2475 Dobbin Rd., Suite 334, Westbank, BC V4T 2E9.
Q: I'm getting an error message when I try to register online, what should I do?
A: Please send an email immediately to seminar@csdf-fcde.ca and describe the problem you are having. We will forward the information to the person who designed the registration system as it will be addressed promptly.
Q: Is there a document of debate rules for the Seminar?
A: Yes. This is the bilingual version released October 7, 2009: 2009 CSDF Handbook of Debate Rules and Formats.
