On Friday, 18 January, Team Canada 1 defeated a team from Calgary to win the 2008 European Open School Debating Championships.
Shalini Rao of the Sacred Heart School of Halifax was Captain of Team Canada; her teammates were Kees de Ridder of William Aberhart School and David Miko of Westmount Charter School, both schools in Calgary.
The third place team at the event was Team Canada 2, which consisted of Tim
Abdulla from St. John’s-Ravenscourt School in Winnipeg and Daniel Lewis and
Scott Stirrett, both of Halifax Grammar School.
